Welcome to this video on the window plug-in. For Servoy University, this is Scott Butler. This video we're going to walk through the window plug-in and show you some of the example usages. Some of you coming from older versions of Servoymay remember the plug-in under some slightly different names. So what's happened is the kiosk plug-in, the menu bar plug-in, and the pop-up menu plug-in have been joined together and consolidated into one plug-in called the window plug-in. So if we scroll underneath the plug-ins we'll see it there and there's a lot of options underneath it. You can basically divide up the functions of the window plug-in into four separate areas. There's the window part which used to be the kiosk plug-in and that allows you to deal with things about the window as a whole, like the status bars and whether or not it's full screen, things like that. Then there's the menu bar section dealing with the actual menu bars and servo-in so that's like these drop-down menus. Then there's the toolbar so that's these little icon menu tool bars. And then there's the on the fly pop-up menus. So let's walk through some examples. First we'll start with the window plug-in. So I've got a code here to hide the status bar down here. You can see it's real simple. Just completely hides that. Then I have another one here to deal with the menu bar. So we're going to add a new menu item up here in our menu. So there you can see we have a new one called servo-in with some drop-down options. And notice that the drop-down options can be of different type. So here's one that's a check and here's a normal one. Then we can deal with the toolbar so this would be the toolbar area up here. And we're going to add a new toolbar in there so you can see add it a new button and another check. And then there's the pop-up menu plug-in. So we can have pop-up menus come up dynamically on any element in your form. So let's walk through the code behind these. So we'll start with the window plug-in. You can see it's just a simple one liner. Plugins.window.set status bar visible. And we can specify just a true or false. There's also some options in here for setting full screen. Next we get down to the menu bar area. So we can get the menu bar object by saying plugins.window.get menu bar. Note that you can also serve way 5.2. You can get the menu bar of different windows as well. So just saying get menu bar gets you back the default menu bar. But you also have the option to pass in a window name and you can now get back the menu bar for a specific window. Once you've got that menu bar object you can do things like add menu items to it. So for example, when I get back that menu bar, I have a menu bar object. Then I can do things like add menu. And I can see the add menu returns back a menu object. And now I can see the things that I can do with the menu object like sit the text. Set whether or not it wanted to be a checkbox or radio item or radio group, separators, etc. I can also add a checkbox and then I can determine whether or not I want that checkbox to be selected. And again you can do all those other items checkbox, radios, etc. The next example we have is dealing with the toolbar. So underneath the window plugin you can get back a toolbar by specifying what name you want. You can also get back a listing of the existing toolbar or you can add a new toolbar. So in our example we added a toolbar and we added a button to it and we specified the method we wanted that button to run and we added a checkbox along with the method we wanted that checkbox to run. For the down we have the pop up menu plugin. So underneath the window there is a create pop up menu. And so once we get back this pop up menu object we're able to go through and add menu to items and radios and separators to it similar to how we did earlier with the menu bar. And then once you've looped through those you can choose where you want this pop up menu to be displayed. And so we're using the event object that gets passed into the method and we're calling get source. So that lets me know what element was clicked. And as long as a source wasn't null we're going to show that pop up menu right there where it was. So that's what makes that pop up menu show right where the button was clicked. So to recap with the window plug and you're able to deal with the entire window as a whole or a specific window you can deal with a menu bar or the toolbar. You can also deal with creating your own on the fly pop up menus. And let's dive into a couple of these just a little bit more. So if we take a look at like a menu item for example we can see all the things that we're able to do with it. We can determine whether or not it's enabled or not. We can set the name determine if it's selected. At the text we can simulate a click. We can set the accelerator so like a keyboard accelerator if you want a shortcut to that. You can determine if you want it to have an icon. You can determine the method that you want it to click. You can set the nemonic key of the item and you can determine whether or not you want it to be visible. And so with the consolidation of this plug in we're able to reuse these menu items in different fashion. So you notice we use the menu item in the pop up menu section. And we also use those same menu items up here in the menu bar section. So with this being consolidated down it's a lot easier for you to reuse code for different sections of your application.
