Thank you for joining me for this short video on the Agent plugin. For Servoy University, I'm Bob Cusick. I guess the best way to describe what the Agent plugin does is just to open up the client and show you. So here we have a standard form and I have a button that says Show Agent. So let's push the button and see what happens. So yeah, there's a little icon that gets animated with an animated bubble and that's what the Agent is. You can go ahead and drag the icon around and if you show it again, it will show the bubble or the text that you want to show. Now the default icon is a GIF image that has no background so he's transparent across the whole GUI. Let's press them again. And there are a couple of properties that you can set on there. One of them is the image URL. So I'm going to change the image URL to a different one or old friend Clippy, who is part of Microsoft Office. Let's see what happens. There you go. This particular icon is not clear. So as you can see it blocks out the background as I move it around, but it works exactly the same way. And because you can change the icon programmatically, you can switch back and forth between them. The Agent plugin was written as an example file for other plugin developers. I'm not sure if I've ever seen anybody actually use the Agent plugin in production. But it's a great example of what you can do with the plugin API of Serveway. Let's have a quick look at the code behind these buttons. Back in developer on my customers.js. Here I have two buttons. One that shows the Agent. It says the image URL to nothing. Then it says the visible to true and it tells the Agent to speak. Hi, I'm the Serveway Agent. That's the default bird agent. And there's a second method below that sets the image URL, sets them to visible, and again tells them to speak. If we take a look at the functions inside of the plugin, you can get and set the X position, the Y position. You can set the balloon size, set the image URL, set the X and Y location, set the visible to true or false, and tell it a message to speak. Again, this was an example plugin that was written way back in the early days of Serveway. Let us hear for you to use. So if you're really in the clipby, give it a shot. Thanks for watching.
